Aidan Caves is a track and road cyclist, 10x Canadian National Champion, National Record Holder and 2016 Pan-American Champion. Oh, he’s also 21 years old.
At the age of 16 in the U19 Track Nationals Aidan came 2nd in the Team Pursuit, 3rd in the Scratch race, 4th in the Team Sprint, 5th in the Points Race and 6th in the 3km individual pursuit. In 2012 Aidan went back to the U19 Track National Championships where he achieved 5 1st place positions.
Not stopping at this, in the 2012 Nationals he claimed himself 5 golds and 2 silvers. Now that’s a lot of bling. Only to beat this record the following year at Nationals achieving 6 golds.
Since 2011, Aidan has raced at a National level, always working towards his dream of Tokyo 2020.
Aidan has continued to cycle his way to success, competing in World Cups and Pan-American Championships since 2014. In 2016, Aidan succeeded in taking 1st place in the omnium at the Pan-Am Championships in Mexico whilst also achieving 2nd in the Team Pursuit, making a new national record of 3:59:931!

WHAT GOT YOU INTO CYCLING?
‘What’s not to love, I get to race bikes and travel the world, and inspire kids to have a fun and healthy lifestyle. I got into cycling through my dad at first just riding for fun, then I started to race on the Velodrome as a kid and was pretty good at it so I stuck with it. Now I have been realizing my dreams with a great team of people. setting new goals and reaching them, that’s what keeps me going.’
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE FUTURE?
‘My overwhelming goal would be to win Gold at the Olympic Games, Tokyo 2020. I would also like to gain another Pan Am Win, set a new National Record, and gain another National Title. But the Olympic Gold Medal is the big one!’
